Slavery- A condition compared to that of a slave in respect of exhausting labor or restricted freedom. Slavery was a common use of labor on plantation, the usage of slavery was at a decline until the "Cotton Gin" was invented. The cotton gin sped up the process of removing seeds from the cotton. Slaves usually costed $40,000 in today's money.
The Underground Railroad
The underground railroad was a network of secret places that were safe for runaway slaves. The railroad was conducted by: escaped slaves, women, and even men of all race. The railroad lead to the northern free states, from the southern states. Many escaped slaves that already traveled the railroad come back to lead the runaway slaves to freedom just like Harriet Tubman did.
